Lovin' Disney Cruise Line's Castaway Cay

My family loves Disney’s Castaway Cay.

Everyone knows about Disney theme parks. Few know about the wonderful Castaway Cay – Disney’s private island in the Caribbean.

The island Castaway Cay was formerly know as Gorda Cay. Disney purchased the island in 1996 as a retreat for its guests onboard the Magic and Wonder.  Now, there’s the Fantasy and Dream in the mix.

Now it’s a family paradise. It’s prior claim to fame was serving as the beach used in the Tom Hanks and Darryl Hannah film “Splash” (and it had a notorious past also for drug runners).

It’s a fab location – you walk off the ship to the beach in maybe 5 minutes.  A trolley is available for those who prefer to ride.

You can see the ship at all times.

Beach towels are provided. Snorkeling gear is available to rent.

There’s plenty of shade.  You can also go para-sailing.

There are restaurants providing barbecue.

And you can just relax and take it all in!

Let me know if you’d like to go to check it out in person!
