Give Yourself a Gift

How are you doing? The great news about a vaccine on the horizon is certainly welcomed by the travel world. No doubt you too?!

One thing is for sure – we all are anxious to start travelling again. And that day will come soon. Last week, I shared some studies that planning for a trip is a great way to reduce stress. Having some semblance of normalcy is good, for sure – but it’s looking forward to brighter days, and planning for them, that really helps us combat stress. I’m really ready to embrace what the authors of this report share: Why making plans helps manage pandemic stress  . As the authors note: Covid-19 has turned all of our plans for 2020 upside down. But scheduling things is more important than ever in these strange times.

And we all know (or at least we should) that Travel And Exploration Spark Happiness, Study SuggestsSo, what are  you giving yourself this Christmas? What are you doing to reduce your pandemic stress? What travel plans are you making? This week, I have two ideas for you – and two zoom presentations to get you thinking about travel.

On Tuesday, Dec.15th, I’ll host Hurtigruten Expeditions for my regular Travel Tuesday to talk about their Arctic and Antarctic trips. Join us. Register Hurtigruten Tues Dec.15th

And on Wednesday, Dec.16th, I’m hosting a special Wine Wednesday. I’ll be hosting my friends at Ritz Carlton Montreal for a special treat with the sommelier to teach us a little about wine for a half hour. You can buy your own to enjoy at home. Did you know that you can go to the Ritz in Montreal, stay the night, and order a special meal from their restaurant to have in your room. Think of it as an immediate way to treat yourself. Register Ritz Carlton Montreal – Wine Wednesday

Here’s some more info about Wednesday’s special with Ritz Carlton Montreal – open your own bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, and join us.

Ritz-Carlton Virtual Wine Tasting

Description
For many travelers, we are making the most of our time at home now more than ever. We’ve all rekindled new and old hobbies. Over the summer, Canadians enjoyed more time outside than ever before. Now as the weather begins to turn cooler, we hope you’re cozy with indoor activities.

If you’ve been to Montreal, you know this historic and beautiful city has a lot to offer. From rich cultural history, to amazing array culinary choices. The cobblestone streets of Old Montreal invite you to stroll with a hot beverage and explore the boutique shops. Often visitors use the city as a jumping off point to head to a ski/board vacation nearby too; combining the best of a city getaway and some outdoor adventure. Perhaps you are considering a Canadian destination for your next vacation.

We invite you to join us for a virtual wine tasting with Head Sommelier of the Ritz-Carlton Montreal, David Goirand. David will lead a tasting of three unique wines. Listen and enjoy how David describes the flavours, notes and more. We also will learn more about the history of this unique property, opened in 1912 and the first to bear the name ‘Ritz-Carlton’ from Montreal resident and Director of Sales, Magda Sabella. This property is home to Maison Boulud, renowned Chef Daniel Boulud’s signature Montreal restaurant.

For those guests who join us for this virtual wine tasting, there will be exclusive pricing for the Ritz-Carlton Montreal including amenities like a $50 daily hotel credit which can be used at Maison Boulud, a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival in your room, and full breakfast in bed for two.

The wines we will be learning about can be purchased locally at your LCBO. If you’d rather pour a glass of something else, please still join us. Participation in the wine tasting is not mandatory, and perhaps you would just like to learn more about the Montreal. We encourage you to share your special memories of visiting the city, what you saw, when you went and how you loved exploring.
