Casa de Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic – Luxury Family Vacation

Casa de Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic is not your typical all-inclusive resort that Canadians often visit in droves. Indeed, it is really quite special, and offers a luxury family vacation.

As noted on their website, my Virtuoso partner http://www.casadecampo.com.do/ holds a very special place in the hearts of all who have visited. An amazing 7,000-acre hotel, resort and residential community, unlike any other Caribbean destination, Casa de Campo is a tropical gem on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. Its unique cache of facilities and impeccable service by a warm Dominican staff are treasured by people of all ages who come from around the world.

Why is it special? It offers a choice of hotel or villa accommodations, a variety of dining options, and is the perfect getaway for either families, or adults only. It offers tremendous sporting options – from world-class golfing experiences (with 3 different golf experiences), to tennis, to a healing spa, to fitness centers, to trail rides (over 200 horses) and polo (with a season from Nov-May), to trap and skeet sport shooting, to various water sports that include kayaking and fishing excursions.  There are nannies and mother helpers available for guests, there is a kids’ program for 4-12 year olds, and there is also a teen club.

Casa de Campo is only an 8 minute transfer from the La Romana airport in DR – or you can access it via Santo Domingo (a 60 minute transfer) or Punta Cana (A 90 minute transfer).  There are flights via JFK with Jet Blue, or daily from Miami – but Canadians can often get charter flights to La Romana. The hotel also works with a transfer company, so we can get easy transfers from whatever airport is your point of entry.

The resort is family owned (and has been for 30 years). It is also a Virtuoso partner of mine, so that means complimentary breakfast for 2 each day, and other terrific amenties. It is not an all inclusive property, but there is a meal plan option.  If you add on the meal plan, you can get breakfast/ lunch/ dinner daily, with unlimited drinks and most sports are unlimited (such as tennis, horsebackriding) with some a la cart (e.g., fishing excursions). If you choose a villa option rather than the hotel, there is breakfast included daily for 2, so your Virtuoso amenities if you add on of a meal plan at the hotel or choose a villa will differ (e.g., a $200 spa credit).

There is still villa space for Christmas, with a 6 night minimum booking. And stays from Dec.21-25 are still attracting winter rates (rather than peak holiday rates) as an early booking bonus.

Want to travel with your kids?  For stays from Apr.25-Sept.30, up to two kids under 12 (staying with two parents booking a meal plan) will get their meals and accommodations for free.

The hotel was recently gutted, and completely rebuilt from its shell, and offers a terrific value for a luxury family vacation option.  Give me a call if you’d like to check it out.
