AMA Waterways & Marianne's – Fashion & Travel

What a terrific event we had at Marianne’s Boutique at the Westgate Mall on Wednesday. A night of fashion and travel.  We had the designer for Avenir attend and give us some perspective into her fashions. Sue of Marianne’s demonstrated how to pack the perfectly-packable hat.  And then we had Kelly Graves of Ama Waterways give an overview of everything there is to know about AMA Waterways.
ama_banner_wine AMA is positioned in the middle of Viking (which is perhaps the more mass market offering on the rivers) and Tauck (which is perhaps the higher-end of luxury on the rivers). Viking tends to put 190 people onboard their ships, AMA puts around 150, and Tauck around 130.  So, even not considering stylings and personalities of the different lines, those numbers give you some idea of the differences between the lines (as the “box is the box” with river cruise companies – they all are pretty much dealing with the same shell in terms of width and height and length, since the river cruise ships have to fit under bridges and go in the canals of the rivers of Europe.)AMA offers terrific European sailings, but they also cover Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia, and Africa. There are so many ways to see the world on an AMA Waterways river cruise. Plus, AMA has new partnerships with Backroads (so you can cycle actively during the day, and relax at night onboard), as well as Adventure by Disney (so a new ship is being built to accommodate family groups – which will be available to AMA Waterways’ clients beyond the 6 sailings that Disney is chartering as well).

Plus, AMA has wine and beer-themed cruises (as I’ve noted above), as well as art appreciation cruises, and music-themed cruises. There are so many options. It’s no wonder they just won the Luxury Awards of Excellence in Orlando this past Tuesday as “top river cruise company.”

AMA has won top Virtuoso river cruise 3 years running. The company has long been a favourite river cruise company with Virtuoso travelers; and they have announced some terrific Virtuoso amenities for 2016 AMA sailings that you can get only by booking through your Virtuoso travel advisor (such as myself :-)….)

Have a look at this little video about AMA.

There are some terrific offers with AMA Waterways.
First of all, for 2016 sailings, AMA has announced a 20% discount for Canadian travelers to give them something closer to parity with the dollar exchange (see document below.). We also have some terrific solo supplements being waived on European river cruising for 2015 and 2016 (limited number of staterooms).  And AMA Waterways offers terrific amenities to Virtuoso clients (see listings below).

Plus – Kelly was kind enough to extend an additional $50/person onboard credit for any of my clients who book an AMA Waterways river cruise in the two weeks after the show (so before June 3rd). You don’t have to have attended to get that benefit – just give me a call!
Let me know if I can get you on the rivers with AMA Waterways!  Here are some pictures from Wednesday’s event.
