Three hundred and twenty eight 4-minute “speed dating”sessions. Plus a bevy of 10 minutes sales calls, cocktail parties, dinners, and presentations. That’s what I squeezed into my sophomore year at Virtuoso Travel Week this year (formerly called Travel Mart).
But it was more than just ticking appointments off a spreadsheet, and schmoozing with my travel industry pals.
Travel Week is all about the power of one-to-one, and the power of the connections you make.
Here I am chatting up Elisa Luk from the Four Seasons Wailea in Maui at the Virtuoso Hotelier dinner on the Wednesday night. I took the opportunity to bend Elisa’s ear about a special honeymooning couple I was sending her way the next week. Elisa noted their arrival details and their particulars. She arranged for a bottle of champagne to welcome them to Hawaii, and had several other special touches set for them. (This is in addition to the terrific Virtuoso and Four Seasons preferred partner amenities.)
Think my clients were impressed?
Here’s an email he wrote me, from the balcony of their room:
Laura and I just wanted to send a HUGE thank you to you for all you have done. We had an amazing time at meadowood and loved the resort.
We also, just checked in at the four seasons and the service has been exceptional so far. We truly appreciate all of the extra special touches and attention we are getting thanks to you and your company.
Laura and I are currently sitting on our balcony, drinking champagne looking at the ocean and thinking about the people we will recommend your services to…you have been great!
Thanks again, and aloha from Maui!
Let me use the power of my Virtuoso Connections to VIP you!
